Protect Your Deck Lighting

Arbour with comfortable garden furniture

Deck lighting is a great asset for those that find peace in their outdoor spaces at night. Like anything else, the lights on your deck will require some care to remain as beautiful as they are on installation day.

Here at TriStar, we get a lot of satisfaction from setting up the perfect lighting for your intimate outdoor spaces. Deck lighting is a great asset for those that find peace in their outdoor spaces at night. Like anything else, the lights on your deck will require some care to remain as beautiful as they are on installation day. This post offers deck maintenance tips for all kinds of outdoor lighting.

Cleaning Deck Lighting

Much like the headlights on your vehicle, the lenses of your deck lighting can get foggy over time because of dirt, pollen, and other debris. When you notice that the lights look a bit weaker than they should be, all you have to do is use a warm, wet rag to wipe off all the grime. You should notice a difference instantly.

Deck Lighting Outlets

As moisture from rain and snow accumulates all over your home, your deck lighting may not turn on like normal. If this happens, don’t panic. Just call us at TriStar Electric to inspect the severity of the problem. Water and electricity don’t mix, so it is essential for your safety that you do not try to fix it on your own. We will usually repair the issue quickly to get you back up and running.

Wires

When installed by professionals, the wiring for your deck lighting shouldn’t give you much trouble. There are still some things to keep in mind as you do routine maintenance on your outdoor spaces. Some wires may begin to peek out as the ground softens, hardens, and gets shifted by the elements. If you see one, you should inspect closely for any damage and if there is none, bury the wire back where it belongs.

For those with wires connecting the lights above ground, they should all be tucked away and mounted safely. If you see a dangling or slacking wire, you can use a cable tie with a screw mount to secure it.
